Awka No Longer A Glorified Village, Thanks To APGA

Ossy Onuko, a stalwart of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in this write-up articulates the achievements of the party in the last 15 years in power in Anambra State including the transformation of the state capital, Awka. He asserts that based on the achievements that APGA has no opposition in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Party politics has been redefined in Anambra State, so well that the state is a one-party state.

Of course, there may be a few buzz here and there from attention seekers – yes! ATTENTION SEEKERS, that’s what they are, because we do not have any formidable opposition party in Anambra State.

The unprecedented record set by successive APGA administrations in Anambra State, has become the yardstick for the assessment of good governance all over Nigeria.

The masses are in ewe with what APGA manifesto has offered them. It’s not just the talk; we have also walked the talk by providing progressive governance chiefly rooted in socio-economic and human-capital development.

The masses have not forgotten in a hurry when schools where closed down for one year in this State, they have not forgotten the many serving and retired civil servants who died of heart attack as a result of unpaid salaries and wages, neither have they forgetten the many pregnant women that died in labour resulting from negligence, those days when there were no doctors in our hospitals nor basic malaria treatment drugs.

APGA transformed all these. We revolutionised education in Anambra State, we equipped our hospitals with state of the art medical facilities, such that we are today the most proactive state, health wise. This was vividly expressed in the manner we deliberately handled the Covid19 pandemic.

Anambra State is today the most networked state in terms of roads, quality roads cut across all the communities in the State.

Workers welfare is the priority of the APGA administration. It’s on record that since we took over this state from the catastrophic PDP in 2006, we have not skipped even a day in payment of salaries and wages of Anambra State workers or pensioners.

Today the popular alias of the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, is the “ALERT GOVERNOR”. This name, he earned in recognition of the prompt payment of salaries and wages of the state workforce.

Visit Umueri community in Anambra East Local Government and see the wonders we are doing there. We are putting in place a world class Cargo Airport, a vision that almost became stale as no administration had the will power to undertake such project until the administration of Chief Willie Obiano took the bull by the horn, and amidst all hurdles, he’s delivering on that project this year.

The same for the International Conference Centre going on in Awka, it’s 10,000 seat capacity and upon completion will have the capability to host any local and International conference or symposium.

Through the APGA manifesto, Awka Capital Territory had a facelift. It’s no longer a glorified village as the case were before we came in. Things have changed and to cap it all, what we have done in the security sector is unequalled anywhere in West Africa.

We brought a crime ridden state to the point of zero crime. Kidnapping, arson, cold blood murder, theft, burglary and all other social vices has been reduced to the barest minimum.

In 2021, APGA under the leadership of Ozonkpu Victor Ike Oye, as the Chairman and Gov. Willie Obiano, as the leader; will coast to victory just as we did in 2003, 2010, 2014 and 2017.
