The father of one of the 39 abducted students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Kaduna, Fatima Ibrahim died on Friday.

The deceased, Ibrahim Shamaki, died after a brief illness on Friday evening, sources told Daily Trust.

The newspaper reported that the late Ibrahim fell ill after he received the news of his daughter’s abduction.

One of his sons, Law Abdullahi Usman, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, said he will be buried on Saturday.

“Yes he died at Maradi, Niger Republic, and his body will be returned to Nigeria tomorrow, God willing. He was rushed to the hospital a week ago after his health worsened due to the abduction of his daughter,” he said.

Daily Trust gathered that the daughter Fatima Ibrahim was identified in the video clip released by their abductors.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the 39 students of the college were abducted by bandits two weeks ago who subsequently made a ransom demand of N500 million.

The Governor Nasir El-Rufai led government has, however, sustained a policy of not negotiating with bandits.

On Friday, Kaduna State Government officials met with parents of the abducted students during which they were briefed on the state government’s efforts towards rescuing their wards.

The commissioner for internal security, Samuel Aruwan refused to give details of the meeting saying it was illogical to give out details of the meeting which he said was a security meeting.
