Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to continue from where they left off in their bid to book a place in the next African Cup of Nations, AFCON tournament which they have won three times in the past.

Currently group leaders, they face a stern test against second placed Benin Republic on Saturday, March 27, 2021 in Port Novo and a last game against Lesotho on the 30th of March.

Three Nigerian players that can give the Squirrels of Benin and the Lesotho team a run for their money are Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo.

The three if they play their best will with their colleagues help put the Nigerian flag at the forthcoming AFCON.

1. Kelechi Iheanacho ( Leicester City, England ) : Netting nine goals in his last nine games, has made Kelechi Iheanacho one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment. His well taken brace against Manchester United in the FA CUP showed his predatory instincts. The left footed striker is in a rich vein of form and he is likely to replicate his heroics in Nigerian colors. Nicknamed “Senior man”, Iheanacho, is a player every defense wants to avoid.

2. Wilfred Ndidi ( Leicester City, England ) : Having a warrior in the middle of the park like Wilfred Ndidi has been a dream come true for Leicester City and the Nigerjan national team. Ndidi has impressed so much in the defensive midfield position and has been a source of inspiration to Kelechi Iheanacho. The duo have helped the Foxes reach a first Semi-final of the FA Cup since 1982. Albeit, the Foxes are in a pole position to feature in the Champions League for the first time since they won the Premier League title in 2016. He will be looking to tackle, intercept, recover and stop the opposition attacks in their tracks as usual.

3. Joe Aribo ( Celtic, Scotland ) : Celtic laid their paws on the Scottish Premiership title for the first time in more than a golden jubilee. Joe Aribo was in the thick of things for Steven Gerrard’s troops as he created multiple chances and scored crucial goals. Often compared to the luxury Jay Jay Okocha, Aribo can undo any defensive unit with incisive passes and mazy runs. Benin Republic and Lesotho are going to feel hard done with players of his quality on the pitch.
