Aba low turn-out

The Aba North/South Federal Constituency bye-election has been marked by a massive low turn-out with the majority of voters abstaining from the polling centres.

The major candidates in the election are Chimaobi Ebisike of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Mascot Kalu who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mascot is also the younger brother of the Senate Chief Whip and penultimate governor of the state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that s election has been marked with massive boycott with the majority of the people going about other businesses.

Meanwhile, the PDP candidate has accused senior officials of the APC of rigging the election.

Ebisike in a statement obtained by  GreenWhiteGreen GWG as the election was ongoing said the APC officials were going about rigging by writing what he claimed to be fictitious results.

“The APC leaders were seen with several busloads of armed thugs and intimidating voters in the hope of clearing the air for them to compromise the system and rig the election”, Ebisike said as he called on INEC and Gov. Okeize Ikpeazu to intervene.

The Aba Federal Constituency election despite the low turn-out, election GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports presents an opportunity for Senator Kalu to prove his might as the leader of the party in the state and he has to do so by ensuring the election of his brother in a federal constituency far from his home in Aba North.
Already, some political actors even in the APC are working to frustrate Kalu.
