All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Anambra State, Mr Edozie Madu has called on party members to stop attacking Dr Chris Ngige who he said remains the party leader in the state.

Affirming that the party can win the forthcoming governorship election in the state, Madu said party members should showcase the achievements of the Muhammadu Buhari administration in the Southeast and in Anambra State in particular.

According to him the Federal Government had achieved much to enable the party sail through the governorship election easily.

He spoke against the background of claims in quarters that the APC had marginalized the Southeast in many areas and particularly in appointments.

Noting how some APC members have been attacking Ngige, a former governor of the state and incumbent minister of labour, who he said had sacrificed a lot for the party, Madu said:

“I have been seeing what people are writing on the internet about our leader, Dr Chris Ngige, and it made me feel sad. Ngige remains the leader of our party in the state, and we must accord him the respect that is due to him.

In enjoining APC members to stop attacking Ngige, Madu said:

“All attacks against him must stop. The things he has done for this party, some of you would not be able to do. The places he will go to, to find solutions to the problem of this party, you cannot enter there. So, why are you attacking him?”

While calling for unity to push the party’s prospects forward in the forthcoming governorship election, he said:

“All hands must be on deck to ensure that we win the forthcoming election. We can win the election if we concentrate on marketing what the president has done in the country.

“We must shun divisive tendencies and go into the election as one. We have many projects by this government, which we can use to sell our party and ensure that we win Anambra,” he said.

The caution against APC members attacking Ngige came against the background of assertions that the minister has not been able to lift the fortunes of the party in the state since his emergence as party leader in 2013.
