Buhari’s Son-In-Law Wanted Over N26.5bn Fraud

President Muhammadu Buhari’s son-in-law, Mallam Gimba Yau Kumo, has been declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)  over an alleged N26.5 billion ($65 million fraud.)

Kumo is married to Fatima, one of the daughters of the president from his first marriage. They got married in 2016 when Buhari had become president.

Kumo who is from Gombe State was declared wanted alongside Tarry Rufus and another man Bola Ogunsola.

The declaration was made known in a statement on Thursday, by Azuka Ogugua, spokesperson of the anti-graft commission who  asked anyone who had information on the whereabouts of the trio to report to the ICPC headquarters or the nearest police station.

“The persons whose pictures appear above, Mr. Tarry Rufus, Mr. Gimba Yau Kumo and Mr. Bola Ogunsola, are hereby declared WANTED by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in connection with issues bordering on misappropriation of National Housing Funds and diversion of the sum of Sixty Five Million dollars ($65,000,000),” the ICPC said.

“Anyone who has useful information on their whereabouts should report to ICPC Headquarters Abuja, any of the ICPC State Offices or the nearest police station.”

Kumo who read Business Administration at the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU was appointed managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, in December 2010 and left office in 2014.

Kumo became Buhari’s son-in-law when he married Fatima, the second daughter of the president at a ceremony in Daura in 2016.

It was her second marriage following her divorce from her first marriage that produced four children.

She was 41 and became the fourth wife at the time of the marriage and the groom was 57 at the time of the marriage.
