He spoke when he was paraded before newsmen at the headquarters of the Akwa Ibom State Police command, Uyo.

His parade came just as Ms. Umorun was buried on Friday amid an outpouring of grief.

Speaking when he was paraded on Friday, Akpan who wore an orange round neck shirt with the inscription “THE MUDDER SQUAD” said:

“I asked her whether she could work in a farm where hard drugs are kept, and she said she can. When she came I told her that the farm does not exist and it was just a hoax, before she left I told her that I would like to have sex with her and she agreed but gave a condition that I must use condom but when I removed the condom she became angry and hit me.” he said that based on that provocation he hit her back.

However, those were his words as Ms. Umoren was on Friday buried unable to give her side of the case.

At her burial on Friday, her elder brother, Ukeme Umoren requested an Akwa Ibom Government delegation led by Emmanuel Ekuwem, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), to ensure that their sister gets justice.

He lamented how after they lost their parents at a tender age that his sister was murdered when she was about to find fulfillment in life after school.

“She went to look for a job to keep herself going, pending the call-up letter, but the dream is shattered, we have lost our sister.

“All we want is justice for our sister. Whoever is involved in this atrocity should be brought to book.

“The young man (suspect) could not have done this alone. There are people behind the scene that sent him on these errands”, he said.
