PDP Cuts Off Ayade, Dissolves Cross River Exco
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved the Caretaker Committee of the party in Cross River State and constituted a new committee to handle the affairs of the party in the state.
The dissolution follows the defection of Governor Ben Ayade to the All Progressives Congress, APC on Thursday.
The party’s move in dissolving the state exco in which Ayade had some imprint was apparently meant to cut off Ayade’s hands in the affairs of the state chapter of the PDP.
The PDP, however, sustained the local government structures of the party where the governor. The decision could be traced to the fact that the National Assembly caucus of the party had muscled out the governor in the struggle for the local structures during the last congress.
Affirming the dissolution of the former executive in Cross River and the constitution of a new one, PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondinyan in a statement said:
The decision is in pursuant to the powers conferred on the NWC by the PDP Constitution.
Consequently, the NWC has constituted a new State Caretaker Committee to pilot the affairs of the chapter of the party at the state level
The members of the new State Caretaker Committee for Cross River state are as follows:
Barr. Efiok Cobham (Chairman)

Prof. Walter Mboto
Hon. Rita Ayim (Publicity Secretary)
Hon. Mike Usibe
Hon. Christopher Ekpo
Mr. Victor Effiom Okon
Prince K.J. Agba
Hon. Eko Atu (Secretary)
All other structure of the PDP in Cross River State at the local government and ward levels in the state remain intact, the statement intoned apparently reflective of the fact that the structures at the local government level are mainly held by members of the National Assembly caucus.
