While commiserating with President Muhammadu Buhari, the governor said the death of the military officers in a air crash in Kaduna on Friday was unfortunate.

He said the incident came at a time the military and other security forces were intensifying efforts to combat terrorism, banditry and other security challenges bedevilling the country.

“The late Chief of Army staff was a gallant officer and fine gentleman, who demonstrated courage and exemplary leadership while discharging his duties.

“The late army helmsman was at the forefront since assuming office in leading the fight against insurgency, banditry and other forms of threats with renewed vigour to bring enduring peace to the troubled parts of the country,” he said.

He said that the late officer defended the territorial integrity of Nigeria, adding that the officer’s gallantry and heroism would be sorely missed, especially at the trying moment in the history of the nation.

Yahaya also condoled with the immediate families of Attahiru, all deceased officers and Nigerian Armed Forces.

The governor prayed to God to accept and grant their souls eternal rest.
