Parents joyfully celebrate reunion with their released Kuriga Children

The freed school children of LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have reunited with their parents three days after their release from captivity.

GWG.ng reports that the children were handed over to their parents by the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Professor Abdulkadir Meyere, on behalf of Governor Uba Sani.

Recall that they were kidnapped from their school by bandits on March 7th, and were rescued in Zamfara State by the military and local authorities two weeks after their abduction.

Presenting the children to their families, the Kaduna State SSG told them that their rescue was made possible through the tireless efforts of the Kaduna State Government and the Federal Government.

“I remember vividly when this tragedy occurred, His Excellency the Governor went to Kuriga to assess the situation, sympathize with you, and inform you of the efforts he had made as the Governor of Kaduna State.

“He even declared that these children are his children and worked tirelessly with the Federal Government and security agencies for their safe rescue. By God’s mercy, today the Governor has fulfilled his promise, and the children have been rescued. The Governor ought to be here, but due to his work schedule, he could not make it,” Meyere told the families of the schoolchildren.

The parents of the rescued students were excited and relieved to reunite with their wads after more than two weeks of sleepless nights and anxiety.

They commended the efforts of the Kaduna State Government and the intervention of security agencies in release of their children.

The district head of Kuriga community, Lawal Abdullahi, prayed for the community never to experience such incident again.

“We, the people of Kuriga, did not realize how cherished we were until I met the Governor and the Secretary to the State Government. We pray to the Lord to bless these individuals. Not only in Kuriga but throughout Kaduna State, we hope that an incident of kidnapping students will not repeat itself”.

One of the parents of the abducted children, Idris Abdullahi, thanked Governor Uba Sani for fulfilling his promise to rescue the children when he visited Kuriga community after the kidnapping incident.

“Only God knows the joy in our hearts. We express our gratitude to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala for bestowing this mercy upon us. We have nothing to offer the Executive Governor except prayers and hope.

“We ask God to grant the Governor and his administration strength to enable him to complete his tenure successfully and to elevate him to the next position”

Abuja Travellers Stranded As Students Protest In Ado Ekiti

Published

Students Ado Ekiti Road

Commuters and motorists found themselves stranded as students and youths took to the streets to protest the deplorable state of the Ado Ekiti-Ijan-Ikare road on Monday.

The federal highway, crucial for linking Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state, with Ondo, Kogi, and Abuja, was blockaded by angry students, reportedly from Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti.

The protest, lasting several hours, brought human and vehicular movements to a halt, resulting in heavy traffic congestion and bringing activities along the route to a standstill for most of the day. Notably, key institutions such as the State Government College, Federal Silos, State Cargo Airport under construction, and Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), including its 400-bed Multi-System Hospital, are situated along this road.

The students aimed to draw attention to the dire state of the roads, emphasizing that it serves as the sole access route to their campus. Ayodele, one of the students, highlighted the risks students face due to the road’s condition, citing instances of accidents and fatalities. He recounted how parents and newly matriculated students were forced to trek back to the city due to a lack of transportation.

Representatives from various staff unions at the Polytechnic echoed similar sentiments, stating that years of appeals to the government had fallen on deaf ears. They described the road as a death trap, attributing several fatalities to accidents caused by its poor state. Despite previous efforts to patch certain portions of the road, they stressed the urgent need for total reconstruction.

The unions vowed to continue their protest until the government took concrete action. Stranded motorists and commuters expressed solidarity with the Polytechnic staff and students, acknowledging the financial strain caused by frequent vehicle maintenance due to road damage. It’s worth noting that Aare Afe Babalola, founder of ABUAD, has been solely maintaining the road for the past decade.

Corps Member Shares Five Easy Steps To Produce Glue At Home

Published

on

How to produce Glues

A glue is a liquid used to connect different solid materials without making use of machinery or other techniques (welding, soldering and bolts).

Do you know you can make glue out of fuel and styrofoam? Are you curious about the ‘how’?

Creative, Educator and Corps Member, Akingbehin Oluwafunmibi, shared with our correspondent five easy steps on how to produce glue from the comfort of your home:

Step 1: Get a cup of petrol. The quantity should depend on how much glue you intend to produce; however, you do not need a large quantity of petrol. Get pieces of styrofoam, a mixing bowl, and a spoon.

Step 2: Break the styrofoam into small pieces. The smaller the pieces, the easier it will be to combine with the fuel.

Step 3: Pour the fuel into the mixing bowl. Dip each piece of styrofoam into the fuel one after the other. The styrofoam should break down and dissolve in the fuel, creating a glue-like consistency. Stir until the mixture is well combined.

Step 4: Allow the mixture to cool and thicken. The glue will become thicker as it cools.

Step 5: Use the glue as you would any other type of glue. It can be used for different purposes, such as bonding materials together.

Uses Of Home-Made Glues:

Home-made glue can be used to bond two wooden surfaces, torn books, shoes, paper and even plastics
