Reactions As Female Police Officer Shoots Sowore

Civil rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has been shot by a female police officer during a protest near the Unity Fountain Abuja, it emerged on Monday morning.

Sowore’s account of the shooting has been corroborated by some others and a video of him being rushed to hospital was by Monday morning going viral.

Sowore who announced it on twitter said:

Another activist, Comrade Deji Adeyanju while confirming the shooting wrote on twitter:

Got out of a meeting to join the protest at Unity Fountain, only for Femi Falana to call me asking if I was at Unity Fountain that Sowore has been shot by the police. This is Buhari’s Nigeria where protesters are treated like criminals. This is why many no longer believe in PEACE

Adeyanju observing how he got to know of the shooting continued:

I was just 3mins away from Unity Fountain when I got the call that Sowore has been shot by the police. This is the Nigeria some people want others to believe in by force.

Another twitter user and activist writing on the development wrote:

If you ever doubted the vile impunity of the Nigerian state and its slave plantation police force, fasten your seatbelt, a female officer just shot Sowore whilst he was peacefully protesting being locked out of Unity Fountain..Face with raised eyebrow.

Another activist Inibehe Effiong, @InibeheEffiong writing on the development wrote:

@YeleSowore has just been shot by a female police officer at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.

The criminal officer is said to be an ACP. I watched Sowore being shot live on Facebook.

This is what Nigeria has been turned into under Buhari. They’ve declared war on the Civic Space.
