In this piece, Nick Ovuakporie, a political operative and disciple of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, reviews the issues in Delta State ahead of the 2023 General Election and postulates that the Deputy President of the Senate is best positioned to be governor of the state from 2023.

The word trust, humility, accountability and empowerment easily comes to mind when one thinks about the qualities of a good leader. This evidently applies to Delta State and Nigeria as much as it does in any clime under the sun.

To become a leader, one must gain the trust of the people due to the ability to deliver in a position of authority. He or she must be one whose antecedents inspire the confidence of the people and makes the citizenry comfortable under their leadership.

Closely related to the trust factor in leadership is the ability to demonstrate humility in service to people irrespective of their age, ethnicity, gender or other social classifications.

A leader must not only be seen to be humble, but must demonstrate the virtue by their words, body language and actions.

A leader must also be accountable to the people at all times. At the same time, he or she must be willing to uplift the standard of living of the people through shrewd management of available resources.

As preparations for the 2023 general elections gathers steam, there is no doubt that these qualities would be most sought after in the race for the coveted governorship office in Delta State.

Interestingly, in Delta State an individual encapsulates the above mentioned qualities with add-ons, such as being humble, loyal, courageous, detribalized and compassionate.

That man is His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

These factors would no doubt count in his favor in the race for the governorship position of Delta State in 2023.

For instance, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has demonstrated the ability to deliver dividends of democracy and trust both at the national and state levels, through the facilitation of critical projects to the state as well as sponsorship of bills that have greatly improved the lives of all Nigerians.

The Deputy President of the Senate is also humility personified despite his high standing in society and his rich background. Truly, those close to him and his associates in Nigeria and beyond would testify that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege treats everyone with respect, love and dignity whether old, young or of the opposite gender and even those in the political divide.

Omo-Agege: Accountability Personified

In terms of accountability, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has proven his excellent stewardship to the people, through regular engagement at various fora and has consistently given account of his service to the people as Deputy President of the Senate and a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The hallmark of his leadership quality is his ability to attract developmental projects to the people of Delta State, which he has achieved through massive empowerment programs across the State.

By and large, without an iota of doubt, these leadership qualities stand out Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the best candidate for the governorship position of Delta State in the next dispensation.
