Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State will follow Senator Godswill Akpabio on the path of political irrelevance with his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Dan Orbih, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s national vice-chairman, South-South has said.

He spoke during an interactive session with leaders of the party in the state just as immediate past governor of the state, Senator Liyel Imoke commended Orbih as the best chairman ever of the party in Edo State.

Speaking with disbelief that Ayade could like Akpabio join a party that he said had failed on every cardinal area of governance, Orbih said:

“Let me declare here that the South South is PDP with or without Gov. Ayade.

“The people of this state have always voted PDP and with your support will continue to vote PDP. The decision to take our mandate to another political is indeed unfortunate.

“I drove on the federal road from Rivers to Calabar and I make bold to say it is wicked, uncharitable, insensitive for anybody to leave any political party to join the APC led federal government to support the continued neglect and marginalisation the South-South Zone.

“I hereby proclaim that as it was in Akwa Ibom when the former Governor Akpabio left to join APC, they lost the state and he lost his bid to the Senate so shall it be in Cross Rivers,” Orbih said of the political disaster he claims awaits Ayade on the platform of the APC.

“Anybody going to contest senate in APC, will lose. The time to start the work to reclaim our government is now.

“Let people know the decision to leave is selfish and personal,” Orbih, the party’s senior official in the South-South said.

Orbih mocking Ayade and the APC based on what he assessed as the federal administration’s failures, said:

“Come to think of it, what is a APC bringing to the table? Is it the insecurity, bad roads, non constitution of the NDDC board, kidnapping of innocent citizens, Boko Haram, the atrocities of Fulani herdsmen, bad roads, the list of failure is long,” he said as he, however, cautioned that the task to win back the state will be an arduous but achievable task.

Earlier, Senator Imoke who is the leader of the party in the state had commended Orbih lauding his remarkable role in leading the PDP in Edo State over ten years including putting Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to task while he was governor.
