Obaseki Wrong In Response To Ize-Iyamu, Oshiomhole Well-Wishes – Edo APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo State has expressed lamentations over the response of Governor Godwin Obaseki to the goodwill messages from Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

The party in a statement made available to  GreenWhiteGreen GWG said it was shocked that the governor does not understand the burden of his office and would rather choose to play to the gallery.

The assertion came after Governor Obaseki told supporters last week that the goodwill messages to him from Ize-Iyamu and Oshiomhole came through social media as he said that they were not well intentioned.

Responding, the APC through its chairman, Col. David Imuse (rtd) said:

“It is rather disheartening that a man trusted with the leadership position of a State governor like Mr Obaseki, either does not understand the burden of the office or just delights in playing to the gallery for the fun of it.”

On the plea by Ize-Iyamu to Obaseki for a political solution to the lockout of 14 members-elect, Imuse said:

“These 14 APC members are people who were denied a lawful and normal inauguration because the Governor favoured a nocturnal event with only 9 of those he anointed present.

“This is a Governor with 2 of the seats in question  from his local government, Oredo while 2 others are from his deputy, Mr Philip Shuaibu’s local government, Etsako West.

“In effect, both the governor and his deputy have denied their own state constituencies and infact local governments, constitutional representation at the Edo State Assembly for two years now.

“Truth be said, while the matter can actually and will ultimately be resolved by the Courts, it is in the overall interest of the 14 Edo constituencies and for posterity sake, that the ball is now in Mr Obaseki’s court. This is the issue and not treason and sedition, which has no basis.”
