Why I Support The Twitter Ban – Ned Nwoko

Billionaire Businessman and husband of actress Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko has given his full support for the control of social media saying that he is in that regard, fully supportive of the Muhammadu Buhari government ban on the operations of twitter in the country.

Nwoko who has been famed in social media largely on account of the about 40 year age difference between himself and his wife, Regina Daniels spoke at a June 12 lecture organised by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja Council.

According to him social media needs to be controlled and regulated in countries.

He said;

“On the current issue with Twitter in Nigeria, I wholeheartedly support the position of the Federal Government.

“There should be a measure of control and regulation for social media in countries where they have a presence.”

Nwoko who served in the House of Representatives at the onset of the Fourth Republic also called for the social media platforms to pay taxes to the Government of Nigeria.

The support for the twitter ban by Ned Nwoko may be adduced in some circles to the focus on him and his young wife by the social media but is bound to be unsettling among some of his business colleagues who use Twitter for business and other engagements with their international partners.
