Former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Professor Charles Soludo won the primary election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA for the Anambra State governorship election.

Soludo beat three other aspirants by garnering 740 votes ahead of Ezenwankwo Christopher, who garnered 41 votes; Okolo Damien Christopher who came third with 7 votes and Chief Ibeh ThankGod who polled 4 votes.

The returning officer of the primary election, Deacon (Dr.) Sampson Olarenwo affirmed that a total of 795 delegates were registered for the primary out of the 815 that were expected while 792 actually voted.

Based on the outcome of the votes, Dr. Olanrewaju declared Soludo winner after scoring the highest number of valid votes.

In his acceptance speech, Soludo thanked the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, electoral panel and the INEC team for the good job.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG was as at press time yet to confirm the participation of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in the primary especially given the claim by the commission in a letter that it did not authenticate the ward congresses by which the ad-hoc delegates emerged for the primary election.

The victory of Soludo in the primary election follows the reported endorsement he got from Governor Willie Obiano who it was alleged had told several that he was backing the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor as his successor.
