Group Wants APC To Probe Andy Uba – Heritage Bank Debt Allegations
A group in the All Progressives Congress, APC in Anambra State has petitioned the national chairman of the party, Mai Mala Buni seeking an investigation into reports that Senator Andy Uba, a leading governorship aspirant in the party is indebted to Heritage Bank.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that a viral video portraying staff of the bank as demonstrating in the front of the house of the senator has circulated since Monday evening.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG has also reported the denial by Senator Uba’s Campaign Organisation which described the viral reports as politically motivated.
However, the group of Anambra APC stakeholders under the aegis of Concerned APC Members of Anambra State in a petition to Buni, Chairman, National Caretakers of the All Progressive Congress (APC) over the alleged indebtedness of Senator Andy Uba, called for an investigation.
The group that if not properly investigated that the issue could cost the party the main election.
Affirming that the candidate of the party must be one with right standing in the petition articulated through its lawyer, Adams Imuekemhe, in a letter titled “Alleged Huge Indebtedness of Distinguished Senator Andy Uba To Heritage Bank” dated 22, June 2021 said:
“While we understand that the issue of debt between a bank and its customer is ordinary civil, it is however disturbing that a candidate with an allegation of huge debt profiling running into billions of Naira will be allowed to vie for a gubernatorial ticket of APC in Anambra State.
“There is a likelihood that the proceeds of the said debt or money meant for repayment of debt is being used to finance Senator Andy Uba’s political campaign which is contrary to the extant monetary law of country, CBN regulation and the clear letter, spirit and intent of the 1999 constitution and Electoral Act.
“To whom much is given, much is expected, contrary perception can translate into reality if nothing is done about it.
