Ngige, Others Kick As Andy Uba Wins Anambra APC Guber Ticket

Senator Andy Uba, at one time senior special assistant (domestic matters) to President Olusegun Obasanjo has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC ticket for the Anambra State governorship election.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State who is chairman of the APC primary election panel declared Uba winner on Sunday morning following what was claimed as the primary election on Saturday evening.

Uba polled 230,201 votes representing 66% of the 348,490 votes said to have been cast during the primary election.

The remaining 13 aspirants mopped up the balance in a primary that was dogged with controversy even before it kicked off late on Saturday.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported Senator Chris Ngige, the party leader in the state as calling on Governor Abiodun to postpone the primary on the claim that as at Saturday evening that there was no evidence of a primary being conducted.

The results as declared by the panel is as follow:

  2. Johnbosco Onunkwo – 28,746 votes
  3. Paul Orajiaka – 4,248 votes
  4. Ben Etiaba – 4,244 votes
  5. Conel Onyejegbu – 3,414 votes
  6. Maxwell Okoye – 2,540 votes
  7. Andy Uba MFR – 230,201 votes
  8. Chido Nwankwo – 21,281 votes
  9. George Moghalu – 18,596 votes
  10. Amobi Nwokafor – 3,335 votes
  11. Ikeobasi Mokelu – 3,727 votes
  12. Edozie Mmadụ – 3,626 votes
  13. Hygers Ifeanyi – 1,466 votes
  14. Godwin Okonkwo – 5,907 votes

However, the party in the state has disowned the primary saying that there was no election in any of the 326 wards in the state.

The party in a statement issued by APC spokesman in the state, Okelo Madukaife said:

he statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to a set of figures circulating on the internet without signature or attribution and purported to be Anambra APC primaries results.

 

“The figures do not owe to Anambra State APC Primaries which did not hold and for which we look forward to the Caretaker National Executive of our great party to choose a new date within INEC timetable.

Ngige Asks Gov Abiodun To Shift Anambra APC Primary

“The leader of our great party in Anambra State and Minister of Labour & Employment, Sen (Dr.) Chris Nwabueze Ngige has proposed Tuesday, June 29, 2021, for the primary to hold, and we recommend that it should be considered.

“In the time being, the figures should be discarded and discountenanced as they are figments of fertile imagination, with the potential of being fatal.”

Other aspirants in the contest also kicked against the declaration. Represented by former national organizing secretary of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, George Moghalu, they said that there was no primary election.

“Anybody who claimed that there was primary is fraudulent and does not wish APC well in the November 6 election,” Moghalu said.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that before the emergence of Senator Andy Uba as the winner of the ticket to fly the flag of the APC, that his brother, Senator Ugochukwu Uba had also emerged as the PDP candidate in a parallel primary for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP while former Transcorp CEO, Valentine Ozigbo emerged as the official candidate in the primary recognized by the party.

Others who have emerged as candidates are Senator Ifeanyi Ubah as the candidate of the YPP and Prof Chukwuma Soludo as the candidate of APGA
