Former managing director of Transcorp, Valentine Ozigbo on Saturday emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the primaries conducted by the party to choose it flagbearer for Anambra State.

In the election among super delegates, he polled 62 votes to beat his nearest contender, Obiora Okonkwo, owner of United Nigeria Airlines who scored 58 votes.

Senator Uche Ekwunife was third with 44 votes.

If ratified it would mean that the Anambra South which has been agitating for the ticket would fly the flag of the party pitched against two other strong contenders from the region, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of YPP. The APC candidate is yet to emerge as at press time.
The super delegates who voted were essentially serving and former political office holders from the state. The action came following a flurry of court actions that annulled the ad-hoc delegates’ election which compelled the party to restrict the voting to the super delegates.
