England qualified for its first final in a major international football tournament on Wednesday when the Gareth Southgate managed team defeated Denmark by two goals to one in the ongoing Euro 2020 championship.

It was the first time that England would qualify for the final of a soccer major tournament since their epic 1966 victory in the World Cup. That victory as with Wednesday’s defeat of Denmark was achieved at the Wembley Stadium.

Denmark did all the scoring in the first half putting one in the English net and another through an own goal.

In the first half of extra time a controversial tackle on Raheem Sterling was ruled a penalty which was tucked in by Harry Kane.

England go on to meet Italy in the final on Sunday.
