Former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has reacted to his purported Imminent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to cohabit with his political foe, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

A media aide to Kwankwaso, Saifullahi Hassan, told DailyTrust that the report making the rounds that Kwankwaso plans to return to the APC was false.

The leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement also confirmed that he is not planning to float a new political party to challenge PDP and APC for presidency in 2023.

PDP Gives Update On ‘Suspension’ Of Kwankwaso

Meanwhile, the Kano State Commissioner for Rural Development, Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has said that Kwankwaso will be welcomed back to the APC if he is ready to submit to the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

“If Kwankwaso wants to come to APC, let him withdraw his red cap to come under Ganduje,” he added.

Kwankwaso and Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, have been at loggerheads since the expiration of Kwankwaso’s tenure as governor in 2015 and the emergence of Ganduje as his successor. Ganduje was his deputy for eight years, and was supported by Kwankwaso for the 2015 gubernatorial election.

The fall-out of the once dependable allies is not unconnected to the struggle for the political and economic control of the state.
