The prospects for peace in the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC were dimmed further on Wednesday when all three senators from the state distanced themselves from Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture as they all pledged loyalty to Governor Abdurahman Abdulrazaq.
They described the governor as the authentic leader of the APC in the state as they distanced themselves from the allegations put against him by the minister.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Alhaji Lai Mohammed had last Saturday opened a parallel secretariat of the party in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. During the ceremony, the minister was cheered on by his supporters had lamented that the emergence of Governor Abdurahman Abdulrazaq was a one chance government in the state.
The assertions of the minister including his claim of mobilizing money for the elections in the state was followed by a denunciation of the minister by 22 lawmakers in the State House of Assembly who rebuked him over his assertions saying that it was “another lie from Lai Mohammed.”
All three senators from the state on Wednesday took their turn to deny Lai Mohammed.
Senators Ibrahim Oloriegbe (Kwara Central), Lola Ashiru (Kwara South) and Umar Sadiq (Kwara North), made their stance when they addressed newsmen in Abuja.
They rubbished claims that the governor and his camp misused election funds saying that all funds given to the governor were judiciously used in prosecuting the 2019 election.
According to them Alhaji Lai Mohammed did not speak the mind of the majority of APC members in Kwara when he said that the Abdularazaq government was a one chance government.
The senators also welcomed the decision of the national leadership of the party to resume the revalidation of party members describing it as an opportunity for party members who missed out earlier to be registered.
