Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, has given a new reason for his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Senator Nwaoboshi spoke at the Asaba residence of the leader of the APC in Delta State and deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Nwaoboshi had in a letter to the President of the Senate read on the floor of the chambers on June 28, 2021 had observed that the PDP in Delta State was divided and set to explode, hence his defection.

However, at the gathering of APC stakeholders in Omo-Agege’s residence last Friday, the legislator said his defection was to align his people with the centre. According to him Anioma had always aligned with the party at the centre.

Noting what he claimed as the historical antecedents of his people he said that since the First Republic till date, political leaders from the area play their politicking at the centre and not as opposition.

He said: “As a student of history, I have taken pains to study the history of our people from 1960 to now and I have found out that an Anioma man has always been in the centre”.

His explanation is bound to resonate with misgivings given the fact that Senator Nosike Ikpo who represented the zone on the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN between 1979 and 1983 and that he Nwaoboshi was in the Senate and won re-election on the platform of the PDP when APC won the elections at the federal level.

The event in Omo-Agege’s residence was witnessed by among others, Chairman, Caretaker Committee, APC in Delta State, Prophet Jones Erue; Chairman, APC in Delta North Senatorial District, Prince Fred Mordi; former member of House of Representatives, Hon. Doris Udoh; elder statesman, Chief Hyacinth Enuha; former Commissioner of Housing in Delta State, Chief Paulinus Akpeki; Political Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Omene Sobotie; Chief of Staff to the Deputy President of the Senate, Dr. Otive Igbuzor; his deputy, Alex Onwudiamu Esq among others.
