Two former members of the Udu Legislative arm, Hon Bishop Alfred Arutere and Hon Sylvester Kpokpo have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC, citing ill-treatment and feeding on the labour of others by leaders as reasons.

Announcing his defection to newsmen, Hon Sylvester Kpokpo, who just served out his term as councillor under Chief JIte Brown in January 2021 declared that PDP as a party does not know how to appreciate hard work and that since the party believe there was a particular leader somewhere with the magic wand to deliver the party from a distance or another ward, he would be waiting for the PDP in 2023 whether they can get votes from his community.

Hon Kpokpo disclosed that the cartel which the State Exco of PDP believes in should be prepared for war in 2023, stressing that the grievances in many hearts cannot easily be cured because somebody somewhere was taking glory for the sweat of others across the local government area.

‘’That Udu won in 2019 was never and could not have been possible but for the cooperation of all stakeholders and the determination to change the narrative. But in the end, only one man has been credited with the glory. Let the man come and deliver PDP in 2023.

“I can assure PDP that the party has lost Udu in 2023. I will not work for another man to take all the glory. I will not work for only one community to take all appointments due to my ward. I will not work for only one man in another ward, who could not even deliver his ward in a free and fair manner to take glory for the 2019 victory. I and my team would be waiting for them in 2023,” Kpokpo declared.

For Bishop Fred Arutere who served under the two years transition committee between 2012 to 2014, the PDP has not appreciated the labour of most of the leaders in the party and that there was a need to move on so as to protect the interest of his people and supporters.
