Transcorp Launches Holiday Booking Platform, Aura
Ifeoma Okafor-Obi, Director of Business Development at Transcorp Hotels Plc., who is leading the new business, said the platform seeks to expand the hospitality sector through democratisation of access to luxury.
Speaking during a webinar on Monday, Okafor-Obi said aura by Transcorp hotel is not just about hospitality alone but a melting-pot of entrepreneurial skills. She added that the digital platform will serve as a marketplace where new breed of entrepreneurs will come to showcase their passion, talent and skill to those willing to pay for it.
She disclosed that part of the mission of the platform is to harness the tourist potential of Nigeria expand and expand the tourist sector so that people can have a feel of the beauty nature endows the country with while also showcasing Nigeria’s tourism potential to the world.
She noted that the platform is certain to become an integral part of people’s lives. “It’s not just about finding a place to stay, it’s about living your best life and enjoying access to the best experience at all touch point on this one platform.
Okafor-Obi disclosed that the platform is also designed for property-sharing where house and apartment owners, who are looking for neighbours or someone to occupy their property in their absence, come in contact with those who are in need of accommodation.
On the issue of security regarding the property-sharing initiative, she said the hosts go through rigorous verification process to ascertain their preparedness and to instil the culture of transparency, she added that their is a lot of training and education for both hosts and visitors. She also added that Transcorp Hotel partners with external agency who ensures that properties meet the minimum requirements before it’s put on the platform.
Okafor-Obi disclosed aura by Transcorp hotel is a place for mouth-watering and sumptuous delicacies where one can order any food they like. They also have dedicated chefs who cater to special culinary needs of those who want something different.
She, however, refuted claims that the platform is elitist, noting that middle and lower class can also afford the services offered by the hospitality giant.
