There’s an ongoing protest in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Wednesday as scores of supporters of Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho, took to the streets to protest the arrest of the Yoruba Nation agitator in the Benin Republic.

In a live video uploaded by Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, on his Facebook page on Wednesday, the protesters, converged at Sunday Igboho’s residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to protest against the detention of the popular Yoruba activist.

Recall that Sunday Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested by INTERPOL at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Benin Republic on Monday night.

However, the Federal Government of Nigeria has since been pushing for their extradition to Abuja, the nation’s capital, but many individuals and groups have kicked against the move.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had declared Sunday Igboho wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied.

The DSS had raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021, arrested about 12 of his aides, and killed two of them in a gun battle.

The Federal Government of Nigeria later placed the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service on alert to stop the Yoruba Nation agitator from leaving the country.
