The Traditional ruler of Jaba, the Kpop Ham of Jaba Chiefdom in Kaduna State, Jonathan Danladi Gyet Maude, has been abducted. Maude is a first class traditional ruler,  GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports.

The monarch was kidnapped in his farm along Keffi-Jabba road inside Nasarawa State sometime around 2.00 pm according to sources familiar with the development.

The 83-year-old monarch was with his security aides and few aides but the bandits reportedly took only the monarch away.

Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the abduction.

He said Maude was abducted around Panda in Nasarawa State while visiting his farm.

This kidnap is coming about two weeks after Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, Emir of Kajuru in Kaduna, was abducted.

The monarch was released after 24 hours in custody but 13 members of his family who were abducted were not freed.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Monday said that it had concluded plans to make Kaduna State one of the priority states for education interventions.

The Education Officer, UNICEF, Kaduna State, Mr Francis Elisha, said this in Kaduna at a stakeholders’ dialogue to develop advocacy strategies and influencing plans to promote

girl-child education in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was organised by the Kaduna Basic Education Mechanism (KADBEAM) in collaboration with Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL).

Elisha said that UNICEF was already supporting the state government in different sectors to provide women and children with opportunities to achieve their potential.

He said that educating a girl-child was a critical step toward improving the wellbeing and livelihood of children and households, which would in turn impact positively on the community and the nation at large.

The UNICEF intervention would undoubtedly have been buttressed by the spate of insecurity in Kaduna State as was seen in the kidnap of the Jaba monarch.
