Hushpuppi: DCP Abba Kyari Risks Dismissal, Demotion — PSC
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has disclosed Abba Kyari, a deputy commissioner of police, indicted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) risks dismissal or demotion if found guilty of the alleged crime.
Green White Green (GWG) recalls that court documents released by the US Department of Justice alleged Hushpuppi, who pleaded guilty to money laundering in the United States, recounted how he allegedly paid Kyari to help facilitate the arrest of a co-fraudster.
Kyari who is currently the Commander of the IGP Intelligence Response and Monitoring Team according to the court document allegedly left Nigeria and flew to Dubai to meet the Instagram influencer, Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas,
The IGP of police Usman Baba has however ordered a thorough investigation of the matter.
According to a statement by the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, CP Frank Ubah, ”Sequel to the receipt of allegation and indictment processes from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against one of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Abba Kyari, the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc (+), NPM, fdc has ordered an internal review of the allegations.
“”The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to the pursuit of justice and the strengthening of its professional relationship with the FBI and other international partners.
”Further developments on this case will be communicated to members of the public accordingly.”
DCP Kyari has however denied the allegation stating he collected “no kobo” from Hushpuppi and “my hands are clean”.
“We responded to a distress call he (Hushpuppi) made on the threat to his family and released the Suspect when we discovered there was no life threat from the Suspect. This is the true story. Vincent is alive, he can be contacted.
“For those celebrating that this is an indictment on us and mentioning some fictitious big money, they will be disappointed again as our hands are clean and our record of service for 2 decades is open for everybody to see.”
