Tinubu Reportedly Hospitalised In America

There were fears over the health status of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu following reports of his hospitalization in Maryland, the United States of America.

SaharaReporters in a report said that Tinubu had a medical procedure last week and is scheduled for another operation in the immediate future.

There was, however, no indication as to the kind of procedure the dominant political figure in Lagos went through.

Tinubu is the leading political aspirant in the APC to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari and political insiders in the party say that only ill-health and an outright opposition by Buhari could derail his aspiration to win the APC presidential ticket.

“Tinubu is hospitalised in Maryland, US. He couldn’t participate in launching his Arewa library, and he couldn’t participate in the Local Government Area elections last week. He could not attend today’s APC congress due to health reasons,” Saharareporters quoted a source as saying.

“He had a surgery last week,” an authoritative source disclosed.

In January 2021, Tinubu was also reported sick and hospitalised in Paris, France but his spokesman, Tunde Rahman debunked fears of ill-health in a statement in which he said that the outing of the country at the end of December was a traditional holiday for the political leader.

If the ill-health is confirmed it could turn into another issue for Nigerians in the quest for a successor to President Muhammadu Buhari whose six year stewardship has been punctuated with several medical trips out of the country.

Buhari is presently out of the country on a medical check-up and the report of a possible successor in the person of Tinubu being also ill is bound to raise a major question for the former Lagos State governor in his aspiration.
