PDP Edges Toward Implosion As 7 Officers Resign

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was on the edge of implosion on Tuesday after seven deputy national officers of the party decided to resign their positions with immediate effect.

The seven  GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered were infuriated by the leadership style of the Prince Uche Secondus led National Working Committee, NWC.

The seven who resigned were Diran Odeyemi, deputy national publicity secretary; Ahmed Bello, deputy national legal adviser; Umoru Hadizat, deputy national women leader; Divine Amina Arong, deputy national auditor; Hassan Yakubu, deputy national organizing secretary; and Irona Alphonsus, deputy national financial secretary.

Despite their decision to resign, the seven PDP officers vowed to remain in the party. The, however, accused the Secondus leadership of neglecting the second line officers in the running of the party and also in the welfare schemes.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that since the election of the present National Executive Committee, NEC that the deputies have only met with Secondus three times and all those three times were after much pressure from the deputies.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Secondus has been under much pressure with critical party officers accusing him of ineptitude and failing to take the reported failures of the All Progressives Congress, APC led Federal Government to burnish the party.

The resignation of the seven it was gathered follows the refusal of the deputies to allow themselves to be tag along with Secondus whereas they are doing nothing or benefiting nothing.

As a source privy to the development said:
“Anytime there is a major festival like Sallah or Christmas, much goodwill comes to the party but the second line officers comprising the deputies do not get to benefit from the largesse,” a source disclosed.

Even more the deputies complained that opportunities for them to be involved in party affairs are routinely looked over and Prince Secondus does not consider them and before they are considered that it is always after much pressure.

“It is now six months to the end of the tenure of the present NEC, so why should we continue to tag along with him,” one of the seven deputies who resigned was quoted as saying.

The party was yet to respond to the crisis as at 5.00 p.m.
