Ex-Wife Says Fani-Kayode, Senator Bent Planned Her Detention

The estranged wife of former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Ms. Precious Chikwendu on Friday vowed to take custody of her children from her husband.

She stated this shortly after she was released from the cell of Police C.I.D Headquarters on Thursday night in Abuja.

She blamed the former Minister and a former Senator, Grace Folasade Bent for her incarceration.

Precious appealed to Nigerians to rescue her from further oppressing grip of her ex-husband, accusing him of using his contacts and connections to intimidate and frustrate her effort to bring her children to live under the same roof with her.

According to her, “What else do you want me to do, run and hide? I won’t hide; he pushed me to the wall. I am out now to fight it to the last, fight to get my kids.“

According to her, “I was here because there was a threat to my life about three days ago by Senator Grace Folasade Brent, which I was called on phone by a friend who also invited by the police by the way.

“And she threatened to harm me and also use the DSS and the police against me. And I can recall I had no issue with Senator Bent, I never had any meeting with her, I never had any kind of friendship with her.

“But I saw her twice in court to represent Femi Fani-Kayode over the custody issues we have been having over my kids. And that was the only time I have seen her aside the party she was present and I was present. But I have never had any form of altercation with her and I never had any issue with her.

“I never had any meeting with her; I never had any close contact with her. So, I was surprised to get a call saying that I wanted to assassinate her, and that I was going to use thugs and my facebook and social media fans against her.

“That was absurd to me. A family friend put a call across to her and I made it clear to her there was no such threat. Instead, Grace went berserk over the fact I called her Madam. She wanted me to call her Ma, and Ma is a shortcut to Madam.

“So, I couldn’t understand where her anger came from. She started threatening me to use the police, to use every means available within her power to harm me. Now, that I discussed with my lawyer, and they all saw the pattern at which people were coming on me. And it is all about the custody of my kids.

“And I had to put it out to the public that this is what had happened to me. Should anything happen to me, Grace Folasade Bent and Femi Fani-Kayode should be held responsible.

“Now, because she had an upper hand and can use the law and the police to her advantage, she came straight to the police and made a petition, which my lawyers had already done but not gotten to the police at that time.”

“And now I was invited here yesterday, Wednesday August 4, to come and say my side of the story only for them to lock me up in detention. I actually slept in detention. I am leaving the cell now, by 8pm on Thursday August 5. I got here at about 1.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon with my lawyer.

“And I faced all sorts of insults, intimidation from the police because of this issue. They didn’t want me to say the side of my story. They wanted me to write what they wanted me to write. And my defiant (refusal) to write what they wanted me to write is what has kept me here.

“And I am not afraid to say this is about the custody issue, because I had no other issue with Grace Bent neither do I have any issues with Femi Fani-Kayode. My not being his partner was my choice. I walked away from that toxic relationship because I went through hell. And I have had enough.

“I am a human being and I had a right chose who to be with and who not to be with.  I felt the pains, it has been seven years of battering, I had to protect him because he is a politician. But I have had enough.

“A mother that has her kids taken from her for one year could not stay silence. I am no longer staying silence, my kids are going through hell and I am going through hell. That I laugh and try to make it easy does not mean I am not hurt, I am hurt.

“After release, I have been invited to come back on Monday by 2pm. And I am told Femi Fani-Kayode and Grace Folasdae Bent would be here. I am ready for it, I have nowhere to hide, and this is the fight for my kids.

“I know it clearly and I am ready to fight. I am ready to fight; I have no fears any more. What else do you want me to do, run and hide? I won’t hide; he pushed me to the wall. I am out now to fight it to the last, fight to get my kids. “

Fani-Kayode could be reached as at press time for his reaction.
