Femi Falana (SAN), a human rights lawyer has stated that the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, cannot escape standing trial in the United States following his indictment by the FBI in a cyberfraud orchestrated by Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas.

Falana spoke during a Twitter Spaces conversion hosted by Rinu Oduala, one of the foremost voices of the EndSARS protest.

US prosecutors had issued an arrest warrant for Abba Kyari first on February 12, 2021, according to court documents. Another warrant was requested on April 29, 2021.

Speaking on the development, Falana said Kyari will be made to stand trial no matter how long it takes.

He said Kyari has been above the law in Nigeria for a very long time, adding that a government that engaged in “gangsterism” while dealing with secessionists wants to follow due process in Kyari’s case.

“Whether Abba Kyari likes it or not, the Americans are going to get him to stand trial,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of Northern Group has demanded the immediate reversal of the suspension of DCP Abba Kyari.

They stated this in a communique jointly signed after a meeting held at the Arewa House in Kaduna,.

Signatories to the Communique are those of Communique Drafting Committee’s Chairman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, who is also CNG’s spokesman, Ben Major Idoko (CNG), Abdulmalik Usman(NYPA), Abigel Maisamari(Glorious Women), Ahmad Ashir Danmani(NCMN), Amb. Kamaladdeen Kabir(KASCO), Jamila Mohammed Kaduna(Women Empowerment Network), Abdulrahman Abdullahi Sani, Dr. Mohammed Bello Nawaila, among others.
