Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Victor Umeh has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the name of Prof Charles Soludo as governorship candidate of APGA.

Umeh made the call on Tuesday in Awka while reacting to Tuesday judgement of Court of Appeal Kano Division which restored Soludo as the governorship standard bearer of APGA in the Nov. 6 election in Anambra.

Umeh said with the legal battle waged against the candidature of Professor Chukwuma Soludo now decided in his favour, it was expected that INEC should publish his name to enable us commence campaign.

Umeh, a member of Soludo Campaign Organisation said the judgment also affirmed that Dr Victor Oye, not Mr Jude Okeke was the authentic national chairman of the APGA.

He described the judgment as one  without flaws, adding that all along, the party had never wavered about the authenticity of Oye’s leadership of the party.

“We were convinced that the High Court judgment of Burnin Kudu in Jigawa State should have been a nullity, but some people including the INEC used it to torment us.

“With this, the judiciary has redeemed itself, it has also shown that it is the hope of the people. Nothing in that judgement(Jigawa State) should be allowed to be alive.

“We have now rebounded. Previously we had said Soludo will contest and it has come to pass”, he said.

Umeh said Soludo is our candidate and the person that the party nominated.

“As the chairman of peace and reconciliation committee in our party, I want to call on Chukwuma Umeoji to come back to the party with his supporters, we will welcome them to our fold again”, he said.

Umeh said but for the way Umeoji and his supporters carried on, losing a primary election should not have been an issue.

“We saw the judgement coming, and it was based on sound principles of law. The attempt was simply to derail the momentum of APGA, but the judiciary has intervened. Let’s not lend credence to non existing problems”, he said.

He used the medium to call on Anambra people to understand why they should vote for APGA and Soludo in the next governorship election.

“We have solid achievements here in the state and I do not  see why any sensible person would want to vote out APGA.

“APGA may not have made everybody happy, but I can score APGA up to 85 percent”, he said.

Umeh reeled out achievements of APGA government to include the Anambra Airport which he hinted would commence commercial flight next month and added that the party has not failed the state, hence the need to vote Soludo in the governorship election.
