3 Kidnap Victims Escape, Return To Zamfara College
One student and two staff of the Zamfara College of Agriculture and Animal Science Bakura who were among several others kidnapped earlier on Monday have escaped and returned to the college after the Sunday night kidnap.
A top official of the school who disclosed the latest developments confirmed that the total number of victims with the kidnappers was 15.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG had earlier reported the invasion of the school and the kidnap of several students and staff of the Zamfara college by gun-wielding bandits. A policeman and four others were killed when the bandits invaded.
However, speaking to visiting newsmen on Monday, the Deputy Provost of the College, Ali Atiku, said that a student and two staff of the school were able to escape from the bandits. He did not disclose how they escaped.
He said, “Two staff and one student escaped from the bandits after they kidnapped them and returned to the school early this morning.
As I am talking to you now, we have formally discovered that the bandits have kidnapped 15 students all of them male, three women and one person who are also our staff and killed two of our security watchmen.”
The State Police Command has, however, not responded to the development which follows the kidnap of several school children in the Northwest.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the provost of the Zamfara College, Alhaji Habibu Mainasara, had also been a kidnap victim in the past and was let out only paying an unspecified amount of ransom.
Governor Bello Matawalle has also not responded to the development. President Muhammadu Buhari who just returned from a schools conference in London has also not commented.
