Journalists Barred As Obasanjo Leads Generals To Greet Babangida @ 80

Dignitaries from all works of life led by President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 stormed the hill-top mansion of former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, who clocked 80 years.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dr. Obasanjo, arrived the hill-top mansion at about 10.15a.m.

NAN reports that Obasanjo came to the house with a long convey of vehicles.

Others included former Minister of Defence,Gen. Aliyu Gusau,and former Director of Military Intelligence, Gen.Halilu Akilu.

Journalists who gathered to cover the event, were, however, politely prevented from entering the mansion.

There was presence of both uniformed policemen and plain cloth security agents at all the entrance of the gates leading to the house.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that earlier, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has felicitated with former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, as he clocked 80 years, describing him as a detribalised leader with outstanding legacies in office.

PDP, in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, also described Babangida as a quintessential statesman and highly courageous.

According to the statement, Babangida is a leader with inexorable steadfastness to the unity, stability, national cohesion and development of the nation.

“Indeed, IBB stands tall as a highly resourceful leader; a living legend that serves as a strong lesson in humility, tolerance, broadmindedness, respect for others and pursuit of the good and welfare of all.

“Our party congratulates Gen Babangida on this auspicious occasion,” it read.

The party, in the statement, prayed to God to bless Babangida and grant him many more years in good health and happiness.
