The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has denied receiving any report from the Special Investigation Panel (SIP) set up to probe the fraud-involvement allegation against embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari.

Recall there were earlier reports that the Panel headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Force Criminal Investigations Department, DIG Joseph Egbunike, has submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba at Force Headquarters on Monday evening.

The former leader of the Police Intelligence Response Team was interrogated on four different occasions by the panel.

A pre-conclusion report was said to have been submitted on Friday last week but was returned to the SIP as the Force Management Team sought more clarifications and further explanation on some grey areas.

However, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, in a statement on Tuesday dismissed the receipt of such a report.

According to the statement, “The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public that the probe into the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari by the FBI, being conducted by the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP), is still ongoing.”

The Force PRO told members of the public that, the panel has not submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, as being wrongly reported.

“The Force hereby reassures the public that the outcome of investigations by the probe panel would be communicated accordingly upon conclusion of the investigations,” the statement further said.

GWG recalls was indicted by the FBI in a cyberfraud orchestrated by Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas.

Femi Falana (SAN), a human rights lawyer had claimed that Abba Kyari, cannot escape standing trial in the United States.

He said Kyari has been above the law in Nigeria for a very long time, adding that a government that engaged in “gangsterism” while dealing with secessionists wants to follow due process in Kyari’s case.

“Whether Abba Kyari likes it or not, the Americans are going to get him to stand trial,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) has demanded the reversal of the suspension of DCP Abba Kyari.
