Ayiri Snubs Olu Of Warri, Attends Coronation In Kano

The position of Chief Ayiri Emami as the Ologbotsere of Warri was on Saturday becoming more illogical after pictures of him hobnobbing with dignitaries at the coronation of Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero as emir of Bichi, when the Olu of Warri was being crowned.

Ayiri who had opposed the emergence of the former Prince Tsola Emiko as the next Olu of Warri carried his opposition to the extreme with his physical presence at the coronation of the emir the same day that his monarch was also being coronated.

Dignitaries from near and far thronged Warri for the coronation during which the new Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III gave a splendid coronation speech that has been applauded for its depth and delivery.

Though the new Olu in part referred to the anxiety leading to the coronation, he, however, did not make a direct issue of the challenge that was launched to the event by Ayiri.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Ayiri was helped in his action by a handful of prominent Itsekiri men, but the majority of them were said to have returned to pledge loyalty to the new Olu.

However, many were astounded by the open snub Ayiri paid to the event at home by not just distancing himself from the coronation of the new Olu, but traveling 930 kilometers from Warri for the coronation of a king in another land.

Before the coronation of the new emir of Bichi on Saturday, Ayiri was also all about the place at the wedding of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf to his wife, Zarah.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that ahead of the coronation that Ayiri had written Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State not to honour the coronation. He had also written monarchs in Delta State to stay away from the coronation on the claim that it was illegal.
