Soludo Kicks As Okonkwo Says He Lacks Pedigree To Be Anambra Governor
Prof Charles Soludo, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate, lacks the credibility and pedigree to be governor of Anambra State, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate, Obiora Okonkwo has said.
Soludo in a sharp response hit at ZLP as being afraid of his shadow.
A statement issued on Sunday by the spokesman for ZLP Campaign Council, Afam Dozie Ofomata, based his claim of Soludo lack of pedigree to what he claimed as the failure of Soludo to have contributed anything to the development of Anambra State.
According to him, “it is public knowledge that Soludo has never had anything to offer Anambra.
“Prof. Soludo cannot comfortably point to any landmark project for the benefit of Anambra people in his five years as Central Bank of Nigeria’s governor, even a project as ordinary as a hospital he raised money for in memory of his mother is abandoned.”
“In congratulating the former CBN governor, we note his happiness in becoming the political son of outgoing Governor Obiano and his willingness to be used to detain Anambra State on the tortuous road of failed leadership and disdain for public interests,” he said.
He said that it was clear that Soludo does not fit into the mould of the leader Anambra people yearn for in this election.
According to him, if Soludo does not see the sorry state that Anambra has degenerated, then he has no business aspiring to be governor of the state, noting that any genuine ambition to serve the people should be predicated on itemising the problems and recommending workable solutions.
“In any case, we know that Prof. Soludo is no match for our candidate, the people’s candidate, Dr Obiora Okonkwo, a humble, honest, highly resourceful, practical, successful administrator and businessman, who is loved by the Anambra people and has continued to bestow and empower them in many sectors of life,” he said.
Reacting, Mr Don Adinuba, a director in the Soludo Campaign Council said that Prof Soludo had done many good things for the state only that he is not a noisemaker who shouts about his kind gestures.
Adinuba, who is also the state’s commissioner for information cited the Awka branch of the CBN as among the legacies of Soludo.
“In Anambra today, everybody is talking about Soludo, including those who are against him.
“This means that Soludo is a household name in the governorship race,” he said.
