Shocking! 5-year-old Boy Accidentally Shoots, Kills Mother

An American mother died on Friday after one of her children allegedly shot and killed her, authorities say. 

Michele Cox, 38, sustained a gunshot wound to her chest Friday morning at an apartment she shared with her four children and boyfriend in Casa Grande in Arizona, United States.

Cox was flown to a hospital and died from her injuries, according to a foreign media report.

The Casa Grande Police Department said Cox’s 5-year-old son may have accidentally shot his mother. No other members of the family were injured during the incident.

The case is still being investigated and Casa Grande police are working with the Pinal County Attorney’s Office to determine whether a crime occurred.

“This is a stark reminder that owning and safeguarding a firearm is a serious responsibility and should be a priority in anyone’s home or business, especially if children are present,” the police department wrote in a statement.

Meanwhile, in another news, there was sadness at a monument in Lee Street Resource Centre in Blackshear, Georgia, as a gravestone crushed a five-year-old girl, Bella Bennett to death.

The victim was reportedly playing with her 8-year-old sister on the stone monument. The horrific incident happened when the older girl jumped off the gravestone, making it toppled onto Bella.

According to media reports, her father and another bystander tried to lift the massive 300-pound stone but in the end it took three adults to lift it, by which time it was too late.

“It was on top of the little girl. It was covering half of her body, her head, her shoulders,” a witness told local news site News4Jax.
