By Augustine Adah
The winner of the 2019 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria beauty pageant, Nyekachi Douglas, has lamented the hardships that affected her reign as a beauty queen.
Douglas, who handed over the crown to her successor Oluchi Madubuike last Saturday, took to her Instagram page to speak on the roadblocks she faced in achieving her goal while she held the crown as the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria.
She wrote, “In the very last moments, it was hard. It was the longest but at the same time the shortest reign. It felt like I did so much but got so little. Sometimes I didn’t want to be called Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria because of how hard it was,”
Douglas who blamed the organiser of the pageant for not doing enough said she sometimes hated herself for not being able to do enough while she was the reigning queen.
“Sometimes I hated @mbgn_silverbird, @silverbirdmbgn, organizer because I felt they were not doing enough,” she said, “I started to feel like the crazy one when I asked for what we deserved. I questioned myself and the fight,” Miss Douglas, the 2019 Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria said.
“If only you understand the unspoken words, she clearly didn’t say it all but this is deep. I noticed all along. MBGN organisers should do better. Go for real talents and when you are lucky to find one, value them,” the post read.
Douglas also cited the COVID-19 pandemic as one of the major challenges that limited her from reaching her goals in her earlier post .
“I had imagined glamorous events and opportunities that would allow me visit various cities in Nigeria, but then COVID-19 happened.”
