Abuja Court Remands Ibrahim Babangida, Gives Reason
A Karu Grade 1 Area Court, sitting in Abuja on Wednesday ordered the remand of one Ibrahim Babangida in prison for allegedly stealing six plastic chairs worth N25,000.
The Judge, Anas Isa ordered that Ibrahim be remanded until Nov. 11, for the defendant to meet his bail conditions
The defendant is charged with theft.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the defendant was arrested on August 3.
He said the defendant went into a church, located at Gbagbalape, Nyanya, Abuja and stole six plastic chairs, valued at N25,000, belonging to one pastor, Grace John.
He added that during police investigation, the defendant confessed to have stolen four chairs previously, which he sold at the rate of N400 to an unknown person.
He said the offence is contrary and punishable under section 288 of the Penal Code (NAN)
The arraignment of Ibrahim Babangida in Abuja came as a 25 year-old woman, Khadija Aminu, on Wednesday dragged her friend Zainab Muhammad before a Shari’a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna for allegedly stabbing her.
The complainant, who resides at Tudun Wada area of Kaduna, told the court through the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Shuaibu that Muhammad also put her in a chokehold.
He said that the defendant injured the nominal complainant in the armpit.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 218 of the penal code law of Kaduna State 2017.
Muhammad pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Malam Murtala Nasir, admitted the defendant to bail on the condition that she provides a reliable surety resident in Kaduna.
He adjourned the matter until Oct. 6 for the complainant to present witnesses.
