Osimhen’s Napoli Humbled As Victor Moses’ Spartak Moscow Snatch Europa Victory

Victor Moses’ Spartak Moscow came from a goal deficit at halftime to hit Victor Osimhen’s Napoli three goals on Thursday night in Naples handing the home side’s new coach, Luciano Spalletti his first defeat.

It was a ding dong for the two Victors from Nigeria playing on opposite sides.

It had looked promising for the home side when barely one minute into the game Elif Elmas pushed Napoli ahead putting the Russians on edge for the rest of the first half.

The momentum for Napoli was, however, tampered after Mario Rui was given a red card putting the home side to a man disadvantage in their bid for superiority on the field.

Persistent attack from the Russian side eventually paid off ten minutes into the second half when Quincy Promes equalized for Spartak Moscow as the match dragged into a seeming humdrum as both sides looked forward to sharing the glory.

However, Mikhail Ignatov put Spartak Moscow ahead after a pull over from Victor Moses who was persistent in his runs from the right flank.

The scene for Napoli moved even worse when Promes added to his goal tally in the ninetieth minute despite the restoration to playing parity after Spartak Moscow suffered its own red card in the 82nd minute. Maximiliano Caufirez was sent off following a kick on Victor Oshimhen’s torso.

However, Napoli did not give up and Osimhen in the 92 minute appeared to bolster the home side’s hope with a goal that appeared to bridge the gap, but it was to no avail as it appeared that the danger had been done.

It was the first defeat for the new coach since he took over and it was more painful on home ground.
