Uproar has broken up on social media after a newly wedded man in Owerri, shared the blood-stained bedsheet of his first intimate encounter with his new wife to prove that he married her as a virgin.

Mclawrence Izuchi, a technical assistant engineer at a multinational cement company had while sharing the picture of the bed sheet said:

Confirmation for those who never believed us when we said that we are keeping it till after marriage. Thank you Jesus. I couldn’t have asked for more than a decent and God fearing woman as a wife.My tear rubber wife.

While the post was readily applauded by some as an incentive to others on the importance of avoiding premarital sex, a number of other commentators disagreed saying that the picture should not have been shared on social media.

There were also a few others who mocked, that being a virgin was not factor to the endurance of marriage.

Pastor Reno Omokri while commenting on the debate drew comparison to the romp in the BBNaija House that saw the married lady, Tega Dominic caught under the sheets with an unmarried housemate, Boma.

Reno Omokri asked if those outraged over the blood stained bed sheet of the newly wedded couple expressed as much outrage over the immoralities exhibited in the BBNaija House.

One social media user while rebuffing the attack on Izuchi said:

In a society where women tend to celebrate their promiscuity, a woman who has preserved her only dignity for a man who’s worthy enough to take it should highly be valued lipsrsealed

Supporting the couple, Omokri said:

Those saying keeping virginity until marriage does not guarantee a happy marriage act as if being a prostitute guarantees a happy home. Virginity is honourable because it breeds intimacy. If you know you are her first and only you are more likely to cherish her!
