In recognition of his outstanding Services in different human endeavours, the Apostolic Church Nigeria on Sunday, October 10, honoured the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno as an Icon of Hope.

The award ceremony was part of the 2021 Distinguished Public Officers Thanksgiving and Appreciation Service of the Church held at the Uyo Field Headquarters, Obio Imo.

Presenting the award, the Uyo Field Superintendent, Apostle I. N. George commended Pastor Umo Eno for his commitment in the service of God and humanity adding that despite observed decadence in social morals, the Honourable Commissioner has been recognised as one of those who continue to shine as light in the world.

Apostle George recalled that the award ceremony was instituted in 2016 as a way to rekindle hope on the members that are great assets to God and humanity and to encourage them for greater services.

He urged the Commissioner and other award recipients to continue in their good works to God and man and avoid comparing or envying those who are in the dark, adding that despite darkness in the world, Christians should continue to shine as light of the world.

Apostle George stressed that the award is not given to everyone but only those who have distinguished themselves in their areas of endeavour with laudable Christian values, adding that the Commissioner was singled out for continuing to shine like a light even in a seemingly dark society.

According to him, “continue to shine like a light as you have been doing, because that is why you have been singled out for this award. It is not for everyone but you have been singled out due to your outstanding works in the State which you have been shining as a light.

“The award is not for you to go home and relax or rest but to continue to do more. The Lord that has catapulted you to where you are now will continue to keep and protect you for greater services to humanity.”

Recieving the award, Pastor Umo Eno appreciated the Church for the honour and encouragement to keep the faith in service to humanity.

Pastor Umo Eno expressed gratitude over the award saying it was special to him because he grew up in the Apostolic Church and was nurtured with the word of God stressing that he holds the Church in a very high esteem.

He said the award as an Icon of Hope is more of less a prayer and a prophetic declaration especially coming from his spiritual fathers, adding that the Icon of Hope award applies to general services both within and outside the church.

In his words, “I am glad to be here. I have always been a member of The Apostolic Church and will remain a member. I may be on a mission, but that does not mean I am not a member of The Apostolic Church. If you go to my village in Ikot Ekpene Udo and talk to the apostle there, he will tell you my name is in the Church register and I still do things as I should do.”

Pst Eno who grew up in the Apostolic Church and rose to the position of an Apostle emphasised that he will keep serving God to the best of his ability and continue to contribute his quota to the betterment of the society.

Accompanying the Commissioner to the event were his wife; Pastor (Mrs) Patience Eno, Children and siblings, Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, Architect Ini Orok, Vice Chairman of Nsit Ubium, Hon. (Mrs.) Ofonime Ntiense, Hon. Inyang Eyo – Leader Nsit Ubium Legislature, and Deputy Leader – Hon. Hon. Jephter Tom.
