Why I Withdrew From Kano Anti-Ganduje Group – Senator Gaya

Senator Kabiru Gaya has explained why he withdrew from the All Progressive Congress (APC) Joint Stakeholders Forum that had petitioned the national headquarters of the party on alleged misconducts allegedly orchestrated by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in the running of the party in Kano State.

Senator Kabiru Gaya, representing Kano South, who was part of the formation of the APC Joint Stakeholders Forum spoke as he made a U-turn to join the group of stakeholders alligned to the governor at a press briefing in Kano on Friday.

According to him, he withdrew from the forum to avoid destroying the party that he helped to found.

Senator Kabiru Gaya spoke while answering questions from newsmen at a press conference on Friday convened by the newly formed Joint National Assembly Caucus. The caucus was responding to the recent petition written to the APC headquarters by the forum led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau representing Kano Central and Sen Barau Jibrin representing Kano North.

“As for those who said they saw me in a picture with the petitioners, yes I was there. I appealed to them that we should not take a fight to bring confusion or infractions in our party,” Senator Gaya, a former governor of Kano State said.

“If we have any grievances, let us go and meet the governor or any relevant person in the state to explain our grievances. We can hold meetings and discuss and resolve it.

“Unfortunately they have written a letter and made a complaint which all of us should sign but I backed our because I was a governor in the state. I know what it takes when there is instability. I will not encourage instability for the governor in the state.

“We need to support our governor, we voted this governor into office. We cannot destroy the house that we built. We should maintain the house that we have built, paint it and make it look better” Senator Gaya representing Kano stated.

He said the group supporting the governor was made up of one Senator and twenty members of the House of Representatives who have written a rejoinder in response to the earlier petition by the forum.
