Nigeria presently has 36 states with different economic and sizes. While the cost of living in some of the states is moderate, others are very expensive. Here are five most expensive cities in Nigeria.  

Abuja

Due to high cost of living in the city, Abuja is regarded as the top among most expensive cities in Nigeria. From housing to basic food items, Abuja can be a lot to take in if you don’t have a good source of income. However, without a doubt, the city is one of the most beautiful cities to live in Nigeria.

Port Harcourt

Being an oil-rich state with a large industrial area and having quite a number of multinational firms, and businesses related to the petroleum industry, it is little wonder  Port Harcourt  is one of the most expensive places to live in Nigeria.

Port Harcourt holds a significant number of upper and middle-class residents from the oil sector and various walks of life. Food items, private schools, and accommodation are about the most expensive in the cities of Nigeria.

Lagos

Lagos is known as the commercial hub of Nigeria and has a growing population of over 21 million people is also the second fastest growing city and largest metropolitan area in Africa. Lagos is a megacity on the rise. The influx of people into Lagos does not make the city a cheap one to live in. From transport fares to housing, to basic food items, the overall cost of living in Lagos cannot be considered cheap.

Owerri

Owerri , the capital of Imo State has  transformed to become a hub for tourists and the second home of most students in Nigeria with its hosts of schools, it has become among the most expensive cities in Nigeria. Accommodation and hotels are not cheap compared to its sister town, Aba.

Calabar

Due to its tourist attractions and carnivals, Calabar, the capital of Cross river State   has continued to experience an influx of people, leading to significant rise in the cost of living. Calabar, once a capital of the country is blessed with tourist attractions like Obudu Cattle Ranch, Tinapa resort, and a very friendly weather.

Calabar is a beautiful city to live in. It is a centre of attraction because of its various resources making things in the city quite expensive to live in
