The Police in Benue State said they were investigating to uncover those behind the killing of a female graduate, Joy Onoh, in the North Bank suburb of Makurdi metropolis.

Recall that GWG had earlier reported that the deceased, Joy, a 24-year-old Mass Communication graduate of the Benue State University (BSU), met her death at the Markudi suburb when she honoured the request of some unknown persons to deliver her retail products to them.

The deceased, according to her family, left home about 5pm on Tuesday and did not return until the police recovered her lifeless body on a bush path at the Northbank area in the early hours of the following day.

The police, however, said nobody was immediately arrested in connection with the crime.

But rumours making the rounds in Makurdi, on Saturday morning, alleged that two people involved in the murder of the young lady, who was awaiting her NYSC call-up letter before her unfortunate death, had been arrested by the police.

A resident, who claimed to have witnessed what happened, said through the help of neighbours, the suspects were traced and picked up by the police on Friday.

The witness added that 11 telephone sim cards were found in the possession of one of the suspects and that the second suspect was allegedly the person who called the deceased lady on the telephone to bring her goods to Northbank for patronage.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, said she was not yet aware of any arrest made by the command.

“Even if police catch people; police can catch anybody, but when we get better information we will let the public know.

“It’s not just catching people, until we get reasonable information.

“I’m not aware of anybody in custody until we get reasonable information. When they give me information, I will let you know.

“We are carrying out an investigation. The public should be assured that we will unravel this case,” Anene said.
