Court Restrains Amagba Village from Meddling With Ize-Iyamu’s Farmland

The Edo State High court sitting in Benin City has restrained the Amagba village from meddling with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s farmland in the community.

Justice P.A. Akhihiero gave the interim injunction on 21-10-21, in a motion ex-parte filed by Pastor Ize-Iyamu and I.O.Farms Ltd  (Claimants) in the suit marked B/623/2021 with Elder J.B. Omoma and six others as Defendants.

The six other defendants are Elder F.Ekhoruromwen, Elder E.Edosomwan, T. Ogbodonmwangbe, Uyi Emwinmandolo, Hon Mathew Iduooriyekemhen, Peter Eehunwinose (alias Ero) for themselves and in behalf of Amagba village).

Justice P.A. Akhihiero restrained the defendants of Amagba village from further encroaching, bulldozing, selling or lending the said land held by Ize-Iyamu pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

The court also restrained the defendants, its servants, agents and/or privies from meddling with the said land or demolishing improvements on the land pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the action against Amagba village elders by Ize-Iyamu came after Governor Godwin Obaseki earlier moved to revoke the certificate of occupancy of the land but the move was trailed by an outcry from the public with the allegation that it was an act of political vendetta.

The farm also has a training school where young farmers are trained employs dozens of persons. The extensive farm covering about 18 hectares in the village has different kinds of livestock including chicken, goats and such.

Ize-Iyamu has been Obaseki’s main challenger at the last two governorship elections in Edo State in 2016 and 2020.
