COP26: Kogi Reinstates Pledge Towards Habitable Environment

The Governor Yahaya Bello led administration in Kogi State has initiated several policies aimed at making the environment habitable for the people of the state.
The State Commissioner of Environment, Hon. Victor Omolafiye disclosed this on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference holding in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to him, the Kogi State Government has held meetings at the ongoing conference to woo investors on green economy.
He said that to boost its drive in making the state clean, the State entered Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative in waste management and it is already yielding success.
He said that the PPP Initiative is to allow the people buy into the state cleaning process.
He disclosed that the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) has been taken over by the state to consolidate on it’s success.
Hon. Omofaiye stated that the Kogi State Government will through the agency continue to tackle ecological and problems in the state and indeed, all issues that bother on the environment.
The Commissioner said that ecological problems in the state capital, Lokoja and majority of the local government areas have received the intervention of the state government.
Kogi is one of the states that has received commendation for the success of NEWMAP activities in the state.
