Uzodimma Receives New Speaker, Says Election Victory For Democracy
Governor Hope Uzodimma has received the new Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh with an injunction that the emergence of the new leadership was a victory for democracy.
Governor Uzodimma received Ibeh in the company of the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Macdonald Ebere PhD and other Members of the House.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Ibeh was elected Speaker following the removal of his predecessor on Monday.
A statement issued by the Government House on the visit said that Uzodimma expressed understanding of legislative lifestyle and declared the recent events that led to the election of the new speaker as victory for democracy having being amicably resolved by the Members of the House.
Gov Uzodimma told the Speaker of his continuous reverence to the principles of separation of powers while however appealing for collaboration with other arms of Government.
According to the Governor, “I urge you to play down those things that divide you and play up those factors that unite and make you stronger for the good of the people. Imo is greater than any personal interests and the Government is one, the synergy is important for the thorough development of the State“.
The Speaker on his part expressed gratitude to Governor Uzodimma, the party leadership and his colleagues in the House for their steadfastness in ensuring that peace and unity is restored for the overall interest of all while assuring of the House’s commitment in collaborating with other arms of Government in service to the people.
